Chinese people mostly believe superstitions, though some constituents of tradition were categorized into the realm of superstitions by authorities. Superstition in China is not a purely negative or positive noun but a complicated one that many a people believe in and obey. As one part of Chinese culture, Chinese superstition roots deeply in Chinese customs and Chinese history.
Without any reconsideration and reclassification, most of quintessence of Chinese tradition is forced to be written into the list of superstition. And Chinese government prohibits the public from holding and joining in the superstitious activities, and in its law system, transmitting superstition is taken as the illegal act. Objectively speaking, it is really hard to differentiate the superstition from Chinese tradition, because historically both of them used to naturally mix together!
Used to be considered as the representatives of superstition, Feng Shui, Yin-Yang Theory and Five Elements Theory are playing an extraordinary role in ecology, bionomy and environmental science. It absolutely proves the wrongs of contemporary authorities. Today's people are too arrogant and high-headed and always hold the ancestors' thinking in contempt, therefore there are many valuable ideological legacies are ignored and scorned. This is indeed the most unbearable betrayal!
Chinese people's so-called superstition belief in accordance with personal experiences is constituted of fortunetelling, necromancy, witch doctor's magic way to get rid of disease and calamity, religious taboos, festive taboos, wedding taboos, and funeral taboos, evocation rites, and sophisticated sacrifices to ghosts and gods and so on. Among them, fortune-telling and witch's necromancy and witch doctor's magic behaviors are vividly prohibited in law system.
Chinese Superstition is a systematical mystery and was born at the same time that Chinese history begun. It is the inherent segment of Chinese civilization, which is primitively and typically represented by early Oracle Bone Inscription. Ironically, when majority of Chinese atheistic highly proclaim the importance and significance of oracle bone inscriptions, they may forget these inscriptions originally were used for divination from heaven and god. They were only for superstitions dramatically in the sight of today's people.
Nobody can thoroughly separate so-called superstition from science and technology just as
No one can divide the ill-disposed people from the humankinds' world, because they naturally belong to the same entity. In this way, superstition will not leave until the arrival of humankind's doomsday.
