China Ancient History Zhao Gao Juggled Emperor Qinshihuang’s Testament
Zhao Gao Juggled Emperor Qinshihuang’s Testament

Zhao Gao was a eunuch of Qin Dynasty. Zhao Gao was a distant relative of King of Zhao State before the foundation of Qin Dynasty. Later, his parents became the captives, and his father also suffered from the castration punishment. His mother failed in making love with other man and angered Emperor Qinshihuang, and all males of his family were all punished with castration and acted as the serfs of Palace of Qin Dynasty. Luckily, Zhao Gao depending on his tall and good-looking shape served as a lower official of Qin Dynasty. Because he knew a little bit laws, he quickly became the teacher of Hu Hai who was the youngest son of Emperor Qinshihuang. Zhao Gao flattered Hu Hai and Emperor Qinshihuang to realize his higher target.

In 210BC, Emperor Qinshihuang took Hu Hai and Zhao Gao went outside for inspection to eliminate the latent crisis and danger. On their returning way, Emperor Qinshihuang caught a strange disease. When Emperor Qinshihuang was dying, he ordered Zhao Gao to sketch out his will. In his real words, Emperor Qinshihuang wanted to select his elder son Fu Su as the heir. While Zhao Gao changed his testament and recorded Emperor Qinshihuang selected Hu Hai as his heir. Later Hu Hai became the second Emperor of Qin Dynasty and raised Zhao Gao. Since then, Zhao Gao became the real policymaker of Qin Dynasty.
