|Foxiang Pavilion in Longevity Hill, |
a legendary scenic spot in
Do you know why Foxiang Pavilion was constructed on Longevity hill? It was said that Emperor of Qing Dynasty intended to build a large-scale garden in this picturesque area of Haiding District. The earliest one was Emperor Qianlong. Someone said Longevity Hill actually was an ancient tomb, exactly was a concubine tomb of Ming Dynasty. It can not be moved. The reasons are complicated. This first one is that the regulations of Qing Dynasty government disallowed the superior people of Manchu to move the tombs of last dynasty. Because before their entrance to middle China, Li Zicheng had overthrown Ming Dynasty, in this way, Qing Government did not contract enmity with Ming Dynasty. Besides, the master of this tomb was not kind-hearted figure at all. Never move her tomb! Emperor Qianlong listened and said”Nothing will be worried, move it! ”. Emperor Qianlong’s followers never disobeyed Qian Long and begun to move it. But after a minute, a scene scared Emperor Qianlong: the stone gate was opened by the followers and there were several vivid Chinese Characters: 你不动我，我不动你!（I shall not move you if you do not move me）. Emperor hurriedly demanded the understrappers to reclose that gate and build a large temple on the Longevity Hill to suppress the evil ghost underground. This is the origin of Foxiang Pavilion.
