Zhangzhou city located in the region of Fujian Province, and it gets close to the Taiwan Strait in the east and opposite to Taiwan Province, and borders on Quanzhou and Xiamen in the northeast, and connects with Longyan in the northwest and near to Chaozhou of Guangdong province in the southwest. There is a river called Zhangjiang River near to the city, so it is widely called Zhangzhou.
There are more mountains in the northwest part of Zhangzhou and facing the sea in the southeast part and the largest river in its administrative area is called Jiulongjiang River, or Nine-Dragon River. On the riversides of Jiulongjiang River, there are dozens of basins and river valley. At the downstream area of Jiulongjiang River, there are the Zhangzhou Plain with more than 566 square kilometers, and which surely boasts the largest plain in Fujian province. Thanks to its fertile farmland, it abounds in rice plantation, sugar-cane, fruits and other economic products.
Zhangzhou is rich in the local products, and traditionally boasts the Town of Flower and Fruit and The Land flowing with the milk and honey. There are six famous fruits in Zhangzhou: Orange Lichi, Banana, Longan, Grapefruit and Pineapple. And there are also three famous flowers in Zhangzhou: Narcissus, Camellia and Orchid. Additionally, it is also teemed with many diversity of high-quality seafood.
Tulou Building of Zhangzhou is spreading in many mountainous area such as Nanjing county, Huaan county, Pinghe county, Zhaoan county, Yunxiao county and Zhangpu county and so on. These buildings are worldwide famous for its unique shape and functions, and boasting the Myth-like Mountainous Architecture. Today, Nanjing Tulou Buildings and Huaan Tulou Buildings are listed into the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
