Yaan located at the connecting area of Sichuan-Tibet Highway and Sichuan-Yunan Highway, is 120 kilometers away from Chengdu. Yaan city is the transitional area of connecting are of Sichuan Basin and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the transitional area of Han Nationality Culture and Minor Ethnic Group Culture and the connection area of modern city and primitive natural ecological area. Yaan is the discovery place of world’s first giant panda and the production area of sample. In 2006, Sichuan Giant Panda Habitat centralized in Yaan was listed into the World Natural Heritage. Yaan city also is the birthplace of world tea culture and tea plantation, and it is also the earliest area to manually plant and raise tea trees. Yaan is the only city that bordering on Ganzi Autonomous Region, Aba Autonomous Region and Liangshan Autonomous Region, and it is the transitional area that connecting the Autonomous Regions with hinterland.
