 | Chairman Mao Statue in Yanan Revolutionary Memorial Hall | Yanan Revolutionary Memorial Hall is one of China's earliest museums themed with revolution. It is located in Wangjiaping village, Yanan city, Shaanxi province. It has the 5500 square meters thoroughly exhibiting the 13-year experience of CPC and people as well as troops under the leadership of CPC in Yanan. It is a large-scale revolutionary historical museum with rich content, high value of history and strong appealing.
There are more than 35, 000 pieces of collections and more than 5500 pieces of historical images as well as roughly 12,000 books and references in halls. Among these images, the first-rate and second-rate are more than 1700 pieces. The circulated magazines and papers are more than 100 kinds during CPC's time in Yanan. The collected books, manuscripts and other documents and articles of Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De, Ren Bishi and Lin Boqu are exhibited there. The handgun used by Chairman Mao in Long March and the horse (has been made into sample) that Chairman Mao rode are both available there.
It is a large square in front of Museum. The square is plain and broad with a large hectare of green lands. The Chairman Mao Statue is being erected at the middle of square, and the statue was designed by famous designer Cheng Yunxian. The statue is 5 meters high and 3 tons in weight. The total length from the base is 8.15 meters. On the base, there are the large characters:"Mao Zedong in Yanan", which is the handwriting of Jiang Zemin, the ex-president of the People’s Republic of China.
