Qingcheng Mountain is one of Chinese Taoism birthplaces and it is absolutely a world-famous Taoist Mountain. Qingcheng Mountain located in the southwest part of Dujiangyan city of Sichuan province. It traditionally is called Zhangren Mountain. It is 68 kilometers away from Chengdu city and 10 kilometers far from Ancient Dujiangyan Water Conservancy Project. The Peak of Qingcheng Mountain is Laoxiaoding with an altitude of 1600 meters. In Sichuan, it is as famous as Jianmen which is famous for its steepness, Emei Mountain which is famous for its elegance, Kuimen which is famous for its grandness. Qingcheng Mountain boasts The Top Tranquility of Qingcheng Mountain under the Heaven. Qingcheng Mountain is China’s first-rate famous historical and cultural mountain as well as the important scenic area under the national-level protection. In 2000, together with Ancient Dujiangyan Water Conservancy Project, Qingcheng Mountain was written into the List of World Culture Heritage.

Qingcheng Mountain Scenic Area is generally comprised of Front Mountain and Rear Mountain. The front mountain is the main section of Qingcheng Mountain Scenic Area, and it approximately covers 15 square kilometers. In this part, it is strongly characterized with its splendid landscape and a massive of cultural and historical relics. The main attractions include: Jianfu Palace, Tianshi Cave, Chaoyang Cave, Zushi Palace, Shangqing Palace and Natural Painting and so on. The rear section has a total area of 100 square kilometers, and its main attractions include: Jingbi Tiancang, Shengmu Wave, Shanquan Wutan, Baiyunqundong and Tianqiaoqijing and so on.
Since ancient time, visitors summarized the feature of beauty of Qingcheng Mountain as a single Chinese word“You”(Tranquility).
Its attractions like peaks, valleys, springs, and palace complexes are all hidden in the depth of forest. The Taoist Pavilions are natural built and decorated, which are integrative with mountains, forests, rocks and springs. It absolutely shows the custom of Taoist idea: Simplicity and Nature
Some phenomena of Qingcheng Mountain also include three natural miracles: Sunrise, Cloud Sea and Holy Lamp. Among them, the holy lamp is perfectly unique and strange. Shangqing Palace is the best place to appreciate the beauty of Holy Lamp. At night, visitor can see some or dozens of lightness flying around the space of mountains, which seems a lot of immortal figures carry the lantern to join in a gathering. Qingcheng Mountain is the fifth Blessing Land in Taoism and the cultivating land of Zhang Tianshi who arrived in Qingcheng Mountain in 143 and the representative god of Taoism. The whole Taoist Palace Complex on Qingcheng Mountain is centralized with Tianshi Cave, also include: Shangqing Palace, Jianfu Palace, Zushi Hall, Yuanming Palace, Laojun Pavilion, Yuqing Palace and Zhaoyang Cave and so on

Traditionally, Qingcheng Mountain is also the top selection of artists especially the painters. In 1940, Painting Master, Zhang Daqian got much inspiration from the beauty of Qingcheng Mountain and created plenty of classic paintings themed with Qingcheng Mountain. Qingcheng Mountain is one of Chinese national key scenic areas published in the first batch. In 2000, Qingcheng Mountain became one of World Heritage Sites and in 2007; Qingcheng Mountain was approved officially to be National 5-A scenic area.
