 | Beijing City Wall Site Park of Ming Dynasty | Beijing City Wall Site Park of Ming Dynasty located in the downtown of Beijing City starts from turret of Dongbian Gate in east side to Chunwen Gate in west. Currently, the total length of this ancient city wall is 1.5 kilometers, originally part of the Inner City Wall of Beijing.
Initially established in 1419 when China was under the reign of Ming Dynasty, Beijing City wall at the time was approximately 40 kilometers long and 15 meters wide on top of the wall, the foundation of city wall is roughly 18 meters wide. During the time ranged from 1950s to 1960s, majority of city wall was largely moved or dismantled. Today, only two remains of city wall are available now.
In park, there is a defense-building in the southeast turn of Inner City of Beijing in Ming and Qing Dynasties, which is a key site under the national level protection. It is the only building of City Wall Tower with the largest scale in China. Up to now, it has more than 500 years of history.
